Weddings, Baptisms & Funerals
The moments that matter, held here
Whether you are a regular member of our church family or not, we are always delighted to be involved in the important, life-changing events of your life.
If you live in our parish, are on our electoral roll, or have other qualifying connections, then you are entitled to be baptised, married and buried at St James. We would, of course, love to see you here at other times too.

Weddings
Marriage at St James
We welcome enquiries about getting married at St James, and look forward to getting to know you and to helping make your wedding day a very special occasion.
We can help you arrange a vicar and an organist, and we have a team of flower arrangers happy to discuss your requirements. We can also arrange for the church bells to ring. The church seats between 100 and 110 people. Fees for weddings are set annually by the Church of England, so please ask when you enquire.
To marry here, you should be able to say yes to one of these
- You live in the parish
- You have at some time lived in the parish
- You were baptised at St James
- You were confirmed at St James
- You are on the electoral roll of the church
- You have worshipped at St James for at least 6 months
- Your parents have lived in the parish for at least 6 months
- Your parents or grandparents were married at St James
St James does not have its own toilets, so you may wish to hire the Village Hall for your guests.

Baptisms & Christenings
Welcoming a new member
Christenings take place either as part of our normal morning service on the fourth Sunday of the month, or as separate family events at 12.15pm on the second or fourth Sundays.
If you would like to talk about having your child christened at St James, please talk to Revd Sue, and we will arrange to talk it through with you.

Confirmation
A step on the journey of faith
If you would like to join us on our journey of faith through confirmation, please contact the Reverend Sue Fairhurst, and we will tell you more about preparing for confirmation.

Funerals
A dignified farewell
Funerals take place both here in church and at the crematorium. It is possible to be buried, or to have ashes interred, in our churchyard if you have an appropriate connection to St James. Our churchwardens will be able to advise you.
It is never too early to start thinking about funeral planning. If you would like a copy of the 'Ideas for my funeral service' booklet, just ask one of the churchwardens. Revd Sue would also be very happy to chat to you if you have any questions.
