A churchyard picnic at St James

Groups & Community

More than a Sunday morning

At St James we celebrate and recognise the gifts of everyone who makes our church the caring, supportive place it is. There is a place here for you.

From coffee and conversation to the youth group and the dog-walkers' drop-in, the life of the parish runs through the week. You do not need to be a member, or come to church, to be part of it. Everyone is welcome.

Youth Group

The Octagon, St Mary Magdalene, Lillington · 2nd & 4th Sundays · 6.30 to 8pm · ages 11 to 16

Run together with St Mary Magdalene in Lillington, the aim is to encourage young people to know Jesus, and themselves, better. We provide a space to bring questions and ideas, and to walk with young people as they grow in their faith, with discussions, prayer, games and, of course, refreshments. Second Sundays are a guided session; fourth Sundays are social, where young people can invite their friends for games or films and snacks. It is free, and you do not have to be a member of the church.

Every week, and for the special festivals of the church year, a group of our congregation take it in turns to create lovely floral displays in church. The team can also provide arrangements for weddings.

The Cleaning Team

A rota of volunteers

A team of willing volunteers who keep our church sparkling, taking it in turns to dust, polish and keep the cobwebs at bay.

Need a little help?

There are many local Christian organisations offering support, from foodbanks and debt help to counselling and a night shelter. We have gathered them in one place.
